As many might know Ronda Rousey is an American mixed martial artist of judoka. She was the first UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion, as well as the last Strikeforce Women’s Bantamweight Champion. She was undefeated in her first twelve mixed martial arts fights. She has won eleven of her fights in the first round. Rousey was the first U.S. woman to earn an Olympic medal in judo at the Summer Olympics in Beijing in 2008.In 2015, Rousey was ranked number one of fifty Most Dominant Athletes Alive. So one would clearly be able to see that Rousey established herself as a champion. Rousey had even acted in a few films such as Entourage, Fast and Furious 7 , and The Expendables

This past Sunday, Rousey received her first defeat against Holly Holm. There was a lot of controversy due to her attitude before the fight and how she reacted afterwards. Rousey acted very spiteful towards Holm leading up to the fight, from cursing her out to not tapping gloves with her once they entered the ring. Many celebrities spoke out against Rousey saying she got what she deserved and that it was Karma. While others stood up for her in her time of defeat.

At the weigh ins Rousey was trash talking Holm right away. While Holm was expressing her respect for her, Rousey diregaurded it and called it a “nice girl” act.

It was also noted that Rousey didnt touch gloves with her at the start of the fight. Which is seen here:

In the end Rousey lost, after all her  talk about how she will win. There was a lot of backlash from stars like Lady Gaga and Laila Ali who said she got what she deserved. Despite this reality, there were also a lot of people, like Floyd Mayweather, who came to her defense.

I do agree with the fact that Rousey lacked a lot of respect through it all. Although the whole part of this is to put up a tough front up until the fight. I understand her method of showing no fear, but there is such a thing as being too cocky. Rousey was overly cocky and Holm took her by surprise. Although Rousey announced on social media she will be back and better than ever.
