April Fools’ Day is a day where people go around pranking others. The day of pranking has even made its way into the internet, especially YouTube. Last year, YouTube posted a video called “YouTube Announces Upcoming Viral Video Trends #newtrends” The video is about upcoming viral video trends. It includes a variety of ridiculous trends like clocking. Its like planking, but instead of lying down on your stomach you stand with your arms stretch out telling the time the picture is being taken. Another is called kissing dad. The clip shows people saying to the camera “I’m going to kiss my dad” and proceed to kiss their father. Anyone in the surrounding area would then come out and scream “OHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!”. However, this video was of course a joke. There were people gullible enough that fell for the video

This year there was no video, only a song Darude – Sandstorm. When you search up a song, artist, or album, the result is the song, but YoutTube comes and have this written at the top of the search result “Do You Mean Darude – Sandstorm”. This meme has been going on for quite some time now. The meme goes like this, when a song is playing in someone’s video, the content creator may not list name of the song. So, the audience will then go into the comment section of the video and ask “What is the name of the song?” Others will response as a joke “Derude – Sandstorm” Then the questioner will look the song up and come back disappointed. The meme started from a Twitch streamer streaming gameplay of League of Legends. Most League of Legends streamers stream with music alongside the gameplay. Someone was watching the stream and kept on commenting on what the name of the song. The streamer got mad and for every comment he got from the guy, the streamer responded with “Darude – Sandstorm”

It seems like every year, the internet has a way to pull a trick on us. YouTube has been doing it for two years now. Last year was upcoming viral trend and this year Darude – Sandstorm. Now we must wait 364 more days to figure out what is YouTube next joke.
